Two of Walt Disney World's most popular bars have quietly added a “Walk-Up Waitlist” feature to the My Disney Experience app, indicating that the Beak & Barrel Pirates Tavern in Pirates of the Caribbean and the GEO-82 Lounge inside Spaceship Earth will soon offer ADR-free seating. Here's the latest on the change, which comes about a year after the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT locations debuted.
This is a noteworthy change for both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82. When we last introduced these lounges, they were this Popular Tickets Dining Reservations Across Walt Disney World. Both companies' ADRs are “sold out” more than 60 days in advance. If you peruse the supply calendar, you will find a large number of sell-out dates.
For a while, both the Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 were difficult to book unless you were lucky enough to get an ADR refill. As with many Walt Disney World restaurants, a limited number of reservations are released 60+10 days in advance, with more reservations added to inventory as the date approaches based on staffing and other factors.
In fact, Sarah hasn't been to either bar yet because we canceled our reservation at the Beak & Barrel every time we tried. As for GEO-82, to be honest, we completely forgot about it. (We could use the “we have a toddler” excuse, but the truth is we totally forgot! In our defense, both are tucked away very inconspicuously in Pirates of the Caribbean and Spaceship Earth.)
To be honest, I haven't been paying very close attention to advance dining reservations at either location over the past six months. When the Garden View Lounge opened, I checked out the Beak & Barrel and GEO-82, and ADR availability had improved on both, but was still limited. Of course, that would be the peak of Spring Break and Easter.
Within a few months, demand had dropped to the point where both GEO-82 and Beak & Barrel were preparing to add Walk-Up Waitlists soon.
Direct waitlist added
Walt Disney World is preparing to launch walk-in standby options for Beak & Barrel and GEO-82.
As of today, the “Add to Walking List” button now appears on the Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 pages of the My Disney Experience app. Although the button is active, the feature itself is not. Clicking on it currently returns an error message that reads: “Unable to search for vacancies at this time. Please try again later or book under 'Check vacancies' within the app.”
The presence of a “Walk-Up Waitlist” button in the app is almost certainly not a glitch. Walt Disney World has quietly made similar updates in the past to prepare for the launch of new features or the addition of new locations. Based on past precedent, we expect Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 to begin offering walk-in waitlist service in the coming days. It won't be long.

This is probably the only Walt Disney World planning website that strongly advises against spreadsheets and warns against overpreparing. As fans and enjoyers of the fun at Walt Disney World, we feel strongly about this. There's also the practical reality that almost everything about WDW is overwrought and complicated. And to a large extent yes ADR is possible, especially now that pent-up demand has subsided and more Walt Disney World guests are reallocating their vacation budgets from sit-down dining to Lightning Lane. Given this, it’s rarely necessary to plan where to eat months in advance.
All of this is why one of the biggest improvements to our Walt Disney World travel style over the past few years is the addition of walk-up waitlists in MDX.
It's one of the few technology moves in the past few years that has reduced stress rather than added to it. us often Check out 1900 Park Fare, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Le Cellier, Topolino's Terrace, 'Ohana, Artist Point Story Book Dining and other popular advance reservation dining options.
That number has only increased since Walt Disney World relaxed its cancellation policy to 2 hours. As a result, more guests cancel at the last minute and the availability goes to the walking waitlist instead of returning to the reservation pool (because it wasn't advanced enough).
ADR demand slows
Once the walk-in waitlist feature goes live, we expect it will provide fairly ample availability.
Now, while perusing the ADRs for Beak & Barrel and GEO-82, I was surprised to see so many choices. Both have no available dates at all, but that's still much better than the ADR calendar last time I checked.
Beak & Barrel has much smaller supplies, probably because it's only been open a few months, welcomes guests of all ages, has very efficient turnover (due to the 45-minute time limit), and is located in the Magic Kingdom, right next to Pirates of the Caribbean.
In contrast, GEO-82 is adults-only, doesn't have much unique appeal, and is located in EPCOT, which currently has no festivals. During particularly hot periods, locals are less likely to visit and the park is in diet mode, which may have played a role here.
The same may be true for “Beak & Barrel,” especially considering July 2026 was the least busy month at Walt Disney World since September 2021. Still, ADR demand trends tend to move in one direction when a location loses its novelty, and that appears to have been the case with both Beak & Barrel and GEO-82. (At the same time, the Garden View Lounge remains this Popular tickets, very limited availability until early September 2026. )
It will be interesting to see if demand spikes again starting around October, when party season is in full swing and the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival heats up. Our guess is that demand will increase slightly, but there will still be same-day ADR and direct waitlist options.
All in all, a huge win for spontaneous Walt Disney World visitors like us. I'm looking forward to returning to both locations, including (fingers crossed) GEO-82 during the fireworks show, but I haven't been there yet. As discussed elsewhere, one of our favorite Walt Disney World dining “secrets” is that lounges are our favorite type of Walt Disney World restaurant…even as parents of young children!
If we could only dine at our location List of the 26 Best Bars and Lounges in Walt Disney Worldwe can easily Do this. It's not even a real challenge. Beak & Barrel and GEO-82 aren't paragons of dining on this list, but they're both great atmospheric spots that are wonderful extensions of Planet Earth and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Where the Pirates of the Caribbean cantina shines as a treasure trove of themed designs and Easter eggs, GEO-82 opts for a more versatile form, subtly intricate style and sweeping views of the pre-future world from high inside Spaceship Earth. If you only have time to do one of the two, go with the Beak & Barrel. The Pirate Tavern is far superior and more appealing to die-hard Walt Disney World fans, but there's something to be said for enjoying the sophisticated ambience from a higher position behind Spaceship Earth.
