One of the most anticipated roller coasters of 2025 has finally arrived – Alpenfury Wonderland in Canada! It has been open to the public recently, and two members of the Coaster101.com team have the opportunity to get on board and are here to give you everything you need for a new launch roller coaster! Here is our Alpenfury review:

Alpenfury comment: Is it worth the hype?
Alpenfury marks the park’s 18th roller coaster, tying the Cedar Point lineup with the second largest coaster in a park in the world (after only six Flag Magic Mountains and the Energy Lans Mountains, each with 19). Now, this roller coaster has the most countdown on the roller coaster launched in the world, Nine! Not only does it raise an amazing rise from the core of the park, it is also the fourth roller coaster that will bring Wonder Mountain Home.

What was your first impression when you saw Alpenfury in the Canadian Wonderland skyline?
Kyle: The first thing I noticed was how prominent the roller coaster layout is on the International Street. This is the first thing you see when you enter the park and gets you excited to ride your bike right away. It was also incredible to see the first reversal coming out of the mountain. The number of roller coaster tracks that appeared in Wonder Mountain is crazy. Not only do you have Alpenfury launching and up on the mountain, but Vortex climbed it, where the guardian of Wonder Mountain is placed, and the weaving of the thunder running is inside and out.

Eric: Alpenfury doesn't dominate the skyline like many of the surrounding attractions, and, of course, the outside of the park doesn't look like too many. Only when you enter the park will you fully notice the new top hat peeking from behind Wonder Mountain, as well as the twisted net of blue tracks and support spreading along the trail. Indeed, the whole thing is pure candy and it is hard to see. Photographers will be obsessed with this roller coaster for years to come.

What did you think of after you first took Alpenfury?
Eric: Admittedly, I was overwhelmed by the idea of thinking. Wonderland in Canada is my home park and I'm so happy to see this roller coaster get together for the past 12 months. It was an incredible accumulation in my world, just because the first lap ended so quickly. Sitting on the brakes, I knew I had experienced some unique wildness, but wasn't blown away at the time. I didn't convince myself of any expectations or set up any bars for the coaster, but I knew I just needed to ride again. Does this mean rejoining the two-hour single-person queue queue on a hot open day.
Kyle: I was literally blown away. My expectations were high and Alpenfury exceeded them. From start to finish, it's a perfect whirlwind of roller coasters. It's very intense, but also very smooth. Transitions are skilled timing that even with nine inversions, you won't feel dizzy or disoriented. The pace of the layout is very pleasant.

How many times have you ridden and have changed your impression of riding after several ridings?
Kyle: I was able to ride eight times. This is my first time going to Canadian Wonderland, so I have a new perspective on most other roller coasters before I ride Alpenfury. After many laps, I knew this was my favorite roller coaster in the park. Even if the roller coaster is so strong, it is very feasible. The only complaint was my shin, but more later.
Eric: The more I ride the roller coaster. On the opening day, I bite two laps in the third and fourth rows. However, during our meeting, I rode seven times throughout the train, three of which were in the front. Once I know what to expect, I can further appreciate the bold elements of the layout and ignore the constraints.

Any comments on trains? Are they comfortable?
Eric: I have always respected Premier Rides' engineering strategy to fit more rows onto fewer chassis, but this also leads to narrow seating arrangements. Canadian Wonderland has requested some modifications to make it as open and simple as possible (needed from Art Engineering), although entry/exit is usually consent, higher riders may still be aggravated by the shin guard. My solution was to wear long pants and secure my knee rods during the ride, which also allows for extra hanging time!

Kyle: I love the look of the train – you have orange fire trains and blue ice trains. They are designed to resemble alpine sleds, while minimal constraints can lead to a very open air experience. You can enjoy a pretty good view whether you are in front and back or behind. Having said that, I absolutely love the seats in the front. As I mentioned before, the only downside is leg constraints. It may just be because I'm tall, but after eight rides my calf asked me to finish.

What is your favorite element?
Kyle: All the inversions are great, but my favorite journey is through the launch of the mountain. It's pure adrenaline pumping fun, it gives Velocicoaster resonance.
Eric: When managing the rare feats offered by each element, it is difficult to favor a specific ride. Alpenfury does indeed try to get you out of your seat as much as possible, whether it's the occasional pop-up call time or the hang upside-down, these inversions are both elegant and fast. However, the second launch feels like a blockbuster escape from the underworld. Although it is brief, this experience is a sequence made of a series of darkness, lighting and rock.

What do you think of the rest of Alpenfury's coaster lineup for the park?
Eric: Alpenfury is exactly the roller coaster needed for Canadian Wonderland, an agile inverted machine that does a lot of work in very little time. Whether you like Leviathan's huge busyness, the worry-free pass time of behemoth, or the Yukon Forward's pure submersible muscles boil down to personal preference, but it's clear that the park now has a solemn top four.
Kyle: As I've already said, I think Alpenfury is on the coaster list in Canada Wonderland. It really helps the entire lineup. There are many other types of roller coasters out there, but a world-class launch roller coaster is what they need. Leviathan is great but makes me want more and Alpenfury is the whole package. This roller coaster can be my top ten.
