Bud tumantangis (811m) rise, Sulu – Pinoy Mountaineer's highest peak

Jolo of Sulu – Climbing to the highest peak of Sulu! The first time I've seen it Bud tumantangis Back in 2006, as we were leading to Tawi-Tawi in this memorable way, it led to my hike. I actually hoped to have the opportunity to visit Sulu and climb Tumantangis, but at that time, it was unimaginable to do so, and that was the longest time! That's why I was so grateful when Sulu adventurer Najib Julkipli agreed to organize a hike in the Sulu Mountains. I don't have time to go with my friends Christine Fernandez and Christian Santos. From Manila, we flew to Zamboanga and then took another flight from Zamboanga to Solo: it was an experience in itself! By the time we arrived, Najib was waiting for us at the airport and we met the rest of the climbing party at Shara's, a famous café in Jolo. We took a van to the trail of Bud tumantangis in Indanan, Sulu.

We started hiking from 1045h. After entering the woodland with some houses, the rest of the trails remain to the top of the hill. Decades of conflict have prevented the mountain from gaining unsustainable development. When we were a big group, our pace was very relaxed, but even then we reached the top of the hill at 1305H with a “Helipad website” (see the last photo in this post) , as a camp, and sends a signal that we are only a few minutes away from us. 811m peak.

At the summit, there is a military outpost and views of nearby mountains, including Bud Dajo (e) Its unique crater edge and very prominent Bud Sinumaan (S); This is especially exciting for us given that we are also planning a hike on the next day. A large tarpaulin was used to mark the top of the hill, but when we got there it was already torn apart. It doesn't matter, because we're so glad we finally reached the top of this veritable mountain!

Thank you to everyone who hiked with us! We especially thank Najib for making this adventure come true, and everyone we met in Sulu welcomed us to their province and convinced me that the province has a bright, peaceful future – not only ecotourism, but also Overall development.

Postscript: On the way back to Zamboanga, this time it was a slow ferry, we
