Embracing the French colonial charm of Indochina in the 1930s while still leveraging the long history of Laos, it is a lovely place to live in the capital of Laos.

As you would expect from any capital, Vientiane has a lot of hotel options. It is not only a political and economic hub for Laos, but also a major international gateway to the country and a major international gateway to Thailand’s eastern border.
But if you are not pursuing a large, anonymous international hotel with business travelers or large tour groups, this 55-room boutique hotel is ideal for you right in the center of Vientiane.

Where to stay in Vientiane, Laos – Hotel Poets
Once the home of a famous local writer. Lao Poet Hotel It is a local boutique hotel in the Ban Haysoke district surrounded by shops, markets and bars, close to the river.

Everything at this hotel is quiet and low-key, matching Vientiane. Decoration and furniture reflect a comfortable, creative atmosphere, nodding in French influence on Laos, as well as many cultures in the country and its close ties to Buddhism.
The lobby has a classic feel, full of French design and furniture, although mixed with European aesthetics there is also a lot of Laos.

Statue of elephants and buffalo sits next to a Parisian-style cafe, with photos of Miao and Yao Mien Laotians in traditional outfits sitting in teak art deco frame.

Rooms at Lao Poet Hotel
Our room – a Urban Deluxe Rooms – Small by Southeast Asian hotel standards, but well-decorated and comfortable.
The hand-painted murals on the bed are impressive and are just one of the many works of art around the room and the hotel. In fact, most rooms here have unique murals, which is a lovely touch.

Pay attention to the details of room styles, such as traditional lantern-style bed lights and workbenches, just like you should write some Hemingway-style novels.
The bathroom is neat and modern, with some nice design around the sink and wash basin and smooth black marble walls.

However, the wall next to the shower is just glass, so you'd better have a good relationship with anyone who shares your room with.
There is a blind person who can pull down for privacy, but this seems to be a growth trend in Asian hotels and I must say: I'm not a fan.
What else is Lao Poet Hotel?
On the rooftop you will find the truly amazing factor of this hotel Rooftop Infinity Pool Looking at this low small city.
Even if you only have six to seven floors, you can still see the roof of Vientiane all the way to the Mekong River and Thailand border.

Next to the pool is a beautiful leafy lounge perfect for sunsets or intimate dinners if you need pampering Day Spa and a massage room on the fifth floor.
Breakfast is served in the Sunshine Restaurant at the reception and you will find a large spread of freshest fruits you eat as well as a favorite new discovery: pineapple jam!

There is also toast and butter, you can order eggs, but–for my doctor's joy, there is no bacon in the buffet.
You can also order any coffee you can think of (the coffee scene in Laos is better than most European countries), and most importantly this delicious pancake.
Chicken and tofu and tofu and somehow crisp and chewy, similar to Vietnamese Bahn Xeo. I still have dreams about this delicious morning!

The Lao Poet Hotel is a great place to live in this interesting little city – in which the French colonial influence is still clear, but there is also a lot of its own culture to understand.
