A common trap for people who come here year after year is wanting more comfort until you eventually need to rent a rental to store your Burning Man gear and a trailer to tow it. Everything we wanted to install in the Subaru Ascent in our first Burn, it's still huge compared to most vehicles.

It’s crazy how we pack all our belongings into the car every year when we move to a new city. But as we drove down the road, we realized our car was packed with Burning Man gear.

First, you need to decide which camping route you want to choose. You have Two main camping options At Burning Man.

1. Stay in an existing registered campground

they provide some infrastructure and welfare (such as showers, electricity and new friends) in exchange for fees and/or volunteer work At the campground.

2. Freedom camping or open air camping

Another option is free camping. In this case, you must bring everything you need to survive the week. If you go with friends, you can share resources, but you should always be prepared to be self-reliant.

If we had gone alone we might have considered camping, but since we went with friends we enjoyed the free camping experience. It allows us to stay away from parties, which means we can sleep better at night.

While an RV was an option, we wanted to simplify our first experience at Burning Man, so we camped in a tent.
