Taste of the month - Sunset on the Kwai River in Thailand

Now is a luxurious resort, so does Hintok The History of the Death Railway. The camp is located at the site of a prisoner of war detention center, where British soldiers captured by the Imperial Japanese army during World War II were forced to work on the railway line.

The resort retains the name of the military prison and labor camp that once stood here, but thankfully, living conditions are now contrary to what the original residents of the site had to endure.

And, if you need more coffee throughout the day, there is a separate café in the garden.

The Hintok River Camp in Kanchanaburi - Hintok Museum

Hintok River Camp Museum

Pay tribute to the history of the camp A small museum This illustrates the story of this place. The site occupied 200 British prisoners of war while being forced to work on nearby compressor cutting during the Japanese war effort in Asia.

There are some interesting details about the lives of soldiers and the painful conditions they have to endure. But this also goes into the site's prehistoric history. In the 1990s, owners discovered garbage pits used in camps.

When he digs it, he begins to discover artifacts dating back to 10,000 years, indicating the importance of the site in the millennium.

Hellfire Pass and War Memorial

Another thing about the Hintok River Camp is that it's close Hellfire Pass.

The Hellfire Pass (also known as Konyu Cutting) ran 75m and drilled the 25m hill into the hill, wide enough to get into the train.

At the end of the cutting, it is Dell, where the Dell Allied War Memorial and the monument are located. Usually, it's quiet, but on important dates like Anzac Day, the area is filled with respect.

It’s a plaguing feeling to go through the cut. Knowledge that the cliffs on both sides of these cliffs are cut and moved by forced labor hands.

The workers – captured soldiers and civilians of the contract – suffered a lot here. All this is because the war requires the Japanese to provide Western outposts faster. This is the horror of war in hard rock.

You will also find Hellfire Pass Interpretation Center here. The museum leading to the railway overlooks the jungle and river system, which bears witness to the horror of the work camps of the 1940s.

The center tells the story of Hellfire Pass and other cuttings along the route. But most importantly, it makes sense in a meaningless moment in human history that is meaningless.
