Chase has operated a dedicated lounge at the U.S. Open venue at Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York, for 13 years. In fact, Chase’s first true lounge product was at the U.S. Open, before the now-famous U.S. Open. Chase Airport Lounge.
This year, for the third consecutive Open, the Chase has reopened its outdoor patio where you can watch tennis matches, get a bird’s eye view of the courts, and sip cocktails.
There's also a cool Chase ATM, a place for tennis fans of all sizes to take photos, and a station where you can borrow phone chargers. Even if you can't get into the main lounge, there's plenty to enjoy.
Chase invited TPG to return to the U.S. Open in 2024 to inspect all venues.
Here’s what it’s like to visit the various Chase experiences.
Chase Lounge at the US Open

One of the most popular tickets at the Open is the Chase Lounge. Daytime sessions are open from 10:30am to 4pm and evening sessions are open from 6pm to 8:30pm. The Chase Lounge will be open during the US Open until September 8 and is located on the second floor of the Chase Center.

Amenities (if you can find your dream spot) include air conditioning and plenty of space to sit and cool off.

There are plenty of places to rest between games, as well as food and drinks and other fun things to do and see. Once inside, you'll find yourself in a large space with several connected rooms.

You’ll find a variety of seating areas and interesting views through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The restrooms were great and there was no queue when I went which was a real bonus.

I loved the Broadcast Center showing ESPN live during the US Open.

Friendly staff were on hand to offer you a drink or just welcome you in and I found everyone happy to help.

The morning I went, there was fresh fruit and coffee (Lavazza hot and cold). There was also free lemonade, iced tea, and iced water. You can't get a full meal here, but it gives you a little energy boost.

There are also free morning snacks like fruit cups and pastries, soft drinks and a variety of alcoholic beverages — though none of it is free. Domestic beers are $15, and Heineken is $15.50. Napa Cellars Chardonnay, Daou Rosé and Franciscan Estate Sauvignon Blanc are all $19. Cocktails start at $21 for Grey Goose or Dobe Ace.

Be sure to grab a free Chase-branded baseball cap, a pair of socks or a tote bag and head to the back of the lounge to have your name embroidered on it upon arrival.

It's a fun swag moment, but be prepared to wait in line. You can grab items from the racks in the front later.

The lounge wasn’t packed when I visited this time, but judging by the 2023 photos, it’s likely to be crowded.

How to Access the Chase Lounge at the US Open
However, gaining access isn’t easy. As in past years, all Chase cardholders are eligible, including those with Chase Sapphire Reserve Card®, Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, Chase Unlimited Freedom®, Ink Business Cash® Credit Card and IHG One Rewards Premium Business Credit Card.
To take advantage of the U.S. Open benefits as a Chase cardholder, you will need to make a reservation or join the waitlist ChaseGetsYouCloser.com.

Unfortunately, it's hard to get a reservation even if you sign up on the first day. Most people are put on a waitlist. Chase reps said they've been able to open the lounge to some people on the waitlist, but you shouldn't count on that. Hopefully you'll get lucky and get a spot.
Once you have checked in and entered the lounge, you will receive a wristband which will allow you to enter, exit and re-enter the lounge. However, the lounge has capacity restrictions, so if the lounge is full, you may need to wait to re-enter.

The lounge is located just outside the east entrance of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. It is not far from the entrance you use when taking the subway or Long Island Rail Road.

Fortunately, this isn’t the only opportunity for Chase cardholders to enjoy a VIP experience at the tournament.
Chase Terrace, U.S. Open

I actually preferred the Chase Terrace to the Chase Lounge because it was open air and had a great view of several tennis courts. Of course, it wasn't too hot when I went, so your experience may vary.
Offer available on a first-come, first-served basis to Chase cardholders only.

You will check in on the ground floor, receive your wristband and walk upstairs. Chase Terrace will be on your left.

The terrace is located in the outdoor reception area and offers views of the three tennis courts and several cash bars. Bleachers are available for people to sit and watch the games. Free lemonade, iced tea and water are also available.

There's a full bar with mixed drinks for purchase, including a Grey Goose Honey Deuce for $23, or you can get 20% off Chase partner Dobel Ace's signature drink, the Dobel Spicy Margarita for $17.60.

The hotel also features a snack stand that offers grab-and-go snacks like Skinny Pop popcorn.

Another very popular feature is the IHG co-branded amenity bar.

Guests can choose a gift from the bar, including a fan, hand soap, Evian facial spray, or even high-end La Roche-Posay sunscreen.

There are also several shaded areas with cushioned lounge chairs. Last year, I heard a woman say that she really felt like a VIP. In fact, I would happily spend hours here.

You don't need a reservation to enter the terrace, which is open during daytime and evening matches. It's open from 10am to 8pm. Again, it's a great place to watch a game or two.

Show your Chase card to get free gifts
There are also several Chase-branded areas on the way to the Chase Terrace entrance, including a “Magic ATM” that dispenses prizes instead of money. Prizes include fanny packs, sunglasses, fans, seat upgrades and more.

There's also a cool feature that lets you pretend you just won the US Open. We had Caroline Tanner of TPG try it out and it made everyone laugh.

Datong Charging Center

Another cool feature of Chase is the charging center, where you can text a code to Chase and get a fully charged power bank to keep your phone going all day. Once you text the number on the screen, the charger pops up. Once you're done, you'll need to place it at one of the multiple large blue mailbox-style charging stations located throughout the venue. You'll find these charging centers throughout the U.S. Open campus and main lounge.
Chasing Sapphires in the Harbor
If you can't make it to Queens but still want to experience it, Chase has created a lounge on the rooftop of Pier 17 in Manhattan's Seaport District. The lounge features seasonal cocktails, an exclusive menu, dedicated seating areas, games, and charging stations. You'll need to show your Reserve card to enter.
The Seaport Chase Sapphire Reserve Lounge is located at 19 Fulton Street in New York City.
Chase also hosts concerts and other events at Pier 17 in Manhattan during the summer, including a live recording session with Tennis Hall of Fame member Andy Roddick on August 28, 2024. Go to Chase's Event website Tickets

in conclusion

There's a lot to do at the U.S. Open even if you don't have tickets to any of the actual matches. There are a lot of sponsored venues, and if you're a Chase customer, you can get some cool free perks.
The Chase Lounge is sold out, but you can get on a waitlist. But the Chase Terrace is the real gem in my opinion. Even if you can’t get a ticket to the game or get into the Chase Lounge, it’s a great place to watch tennis up close.
