It should be easy to find great coffee anywhere in the Caribbean. our island yes After all, this is the home of some of the world’s most famous coffee varieties. However, finding great coffee can often be a challenge in the area's most popular tourist circles. At least that's the case in my experience.
Look around Aruba's Palm Beach. Most common coffee brand: Dunkin'. (Not Duchenne's.) Most other places are Starbucks. (*shudders.*) Even in Jamaica, home of the legend jamaica blue mountain coffeeStarbucks stands out.
(No, Starbucks in Jamaica does not serve local Jamaican coffee. At least they don't always. A true crime if you ask me. )
All of this brings me to Seven Mile Beach Resort grand caymanand Happy hour paddle and coffee. if you like Great coffee (even better people) and a happy hour not to be missed!

The coffee wasn't quite up to par, though.
Now, I'm not a coffee expert/snob. My go-to coffee is pretty simple: either a standard double espresso or an iced black coffee with half and half. No sweetener. No fragrance additives. Nothing detracts from or overpowers the naturally powerful properties of coffee.
In other words, for me, there was nothing to drink.
My Marriott coffee is, you know…well. A bit bland. Middle path. Nothing to write home about.
On my last morning in Grand Cayman, I was determined to find something better. I jumped in my rental car, turned left, and headed north. Surely there has to be something better among the popular shops, resorts and restaurants of West Bay Road, right?
Almost immediately, I was inspired to stop when I saw this cheerful looking little food truck.
Inside, I found Yaz.

Yaz is a walking, talking, caffeinated embodiment of happiness who co-owns/operates Happy Days with his wife, Sarah. Originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yaz moved to Cayman in the early 2000s after living in Canada. Originally from Toronto, Sarah arrived in Cayman in 2018. Between then and the day we met in 2026, they met, got married, started a family, and birthed their awesome roadside cafe and paddleboard rental shop combo.
More specifically, in terms of business, Happy Days opens in October 2023. They settled at the current location in April 2025.
All in all, they're still a bit of a stranger on Seven Mile Beach. However, the quality of Happy Days coffee makes me think they'll be here for a long time.

A cup of coffee is no simple drink for him. Fresh, high-quality beans are important. The origin of these beans is important. (The source of Happy Days’ coffee is costa rica.) Barista tools and equipment are important.
The care taken in achieving optimal extraction results is also important. I'm talking about an extraction method that's perfect for limiting the bitterness of the plant fibers at the end of the process, while also maximizing the sweet/syrupy notes and bright sour/citrus flavors at the beginning.

However, Yaz's fussy attitude toward coffee contrasts sharply with his warm, friendly, and personable personality. He's not a coffee snob either, at least not in the traditional stuffy, condescending way. Instead, Yaz radiates fun, positivity, and inclusivity. You can't leave here without a smile on your face and a delicious cup of coffee in your hand.
In fact, Grand Cayman coffee lovers’ happiest days begin here.
Editor's note: As you can clearly see above, coffee isn't the only item on the Happy Days menu. I didn't try any of their all-natural smoothies or ice cream, though. I also didn’t manage to enjoy paddleboarding with Yaz and company. However, both of these things are high on my bucket list for my next Cayman adventure.
