The 6 Best Hotels in Toronto (Updated 2024)

toronto is a sprawling metropolis known for its diversity. More than half of the city's residents were born abroad, making it one of the most multicultural cities in the world. There is not only Chinatown and Little Italy, but also Greektown, Koreatown, Little India, Little Poland, Little Portugal, and even Little Malta!

Toronto is also home to iconic landmarks like the CN Tower (one of the tallest free-standing structures in the world), a vast waterfront, and countless museums. There is a lot of delicious food here too. I'm never bored when I visit.

I've been to Toronto many times over the years (it's just a short flight from where I grew up). The city is large and spread out, with many hotels to choose from. But I know from experience that not all people are great. So, to help you have fun, save money, and enjoy the city, here is my list of the best hotels in Toronto:

1. Ace Hotel

This 4-star hotel is located in the Garment District (conveniently located between Chinatown, trendy Queen Street West and downtown Toronto). Walking into the spacious lobby feels like you've stepped onto the set of a Wes Anderson movie, with its simple retro-chic design featuring lots of pastel tones and cork paneling. What I love is that the lobby is also a super cool cocktail bar (literally the lobby) that gets lively with the city's fashion at night. (In the morning, you can grab stylish breakfast options like avocado toast and lox on toast.) The hotel also has a rooftop bar with incredible views, regular DJ nights, and a fitness center .

Rooms are divided into small, medium and large (suites are also available) and have plenty of natural light thanks to their large picture windows. I loved all the uniquely Canadian touches, like the in-room record player stocked with Canadian vinyl curated by Toronto Records, the minibar stocked with locally made products, and the comfy beds with custom, locally made quilts. All rooms feature 55-inch TVs, beautifully tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers (some with bathtubs), designer toiletries, fluffy bathrobes and hairdryers.

2. Fairmont Royal York Hotel

Located across the street from Toronto's Union Station, the city's main train station, the Fairmont Royal York is an iconic five-star hotel with a storied history. It opened as a railway hotel in 1929 and has been the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II in the city. The hotel retains the decor and style of the time and I love all the elegant old world charm. I really enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere while sipping a cocktail in the moody Art Deco lobby. The hotel also has an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center with sauna and steam room, and a restaurant serving a rich breakfast buffet.

The palatial rooms are spacious and flooded with natural light. They are equipped with a minibar, desk, small table, flat-screen TV, plush bathrobes, slippers and tea/coffee making facilities. The spacious tiled bathroom has a walk-in shower with excellent water pressure and free toiletries. They charge for Wi-Fi (which I think is ridiculous for a hotel of this caliber), but if you sign up for a free AccorHotels account you get free Wi-Fi. Overall, the Royal York Hotel is a great choice for a luxury hotel in the city center, close to all of the city's major landmarks and attractions.

3. Broadview Hotel

Located on the fashionable riverside, this historic hotel was originally built in 1891 and has been restored into a beautiful 4-star boutique hotel. The rooftop bar has great views and there is a cute cafe downstairs that serves breakfast in the morning. I especially loved the spacious room with its lush red curtains, high ceilings, large windows, and dark wood floors. The decor also adds a touch of whimsy, with terrariums, funky floral wallpaper and even a record player in every room.

The rooms are well-lit and equipped with a desk, flat-screen TV, minibar, French press coffee machine and wardrobe. The pillowtop bed is very comfortable and comes with luxurious Italian linens. I also love the little reading light set up on the headboard (perfect for when I read at night). Although the bathroom was a bit small and lacked some features (I found no place to hang or place things), the huge walk-in shower had great water pressure and locally made toiletries.

4. Park Hyatt Toronto

The Park Hyatt Toronto is located in Yorkville, an upscale community known for its high-end shopping, fine dining and luxury hotels. As a five-star hotel, the entire hotel features modern and sophisticated design, stylish furniture, elegant artwork and harmonious colors. The on-site restaurant is an upscale steakhouse (serving a hearty breakfast of steak and eggs), and there's also a small fitness center.

The room was nice and spacious with large windows letting in lots of natural light. In-room amenities include Bluetooth speakers, 55-inch flat-screen HDTV, safe, minibar, blackout curtains and Nespresso coffee machine. The bathroom is spacious with a walk-in rain shower and free luxury toiletries. I generally find that Park Hyatt properties never disappoint(They are a great place to use your points So I stay in it a lot).

5. Royal Sonesta Hotel Yorkville

The Royal Sonesta Hotel is also in Yorkville, across the street from the Royal Ontario Museum (one of my favorite museums in the city). This four-star hotel features an indoor rooftop heated pool, massage rooms, a vodka bar offering more than 50 vodkas from around the world, and an on-site restaurant with a menu inspired by Toronto's cultural diversity.

I love the modern minimalist design of the room with lots of natural light. Rooms also feature a large work desk, seating area, Nespresso coffee machine, flat-screen TV and minibar. The spacious marble bathroom has a walk-in shower (although I thought the water pressure was a bit low), plush bathrobes and slippers. I love that there is a 24/7 fitness center.

6. Pantages City Center Hotel

This stylish high-rise hotel is located in the heart of downtown Toronto's action. Pantages is especially great for those with theater tickets, as it's just a stone's throw from several historic performing arts venues. I love that you are right next door to the historic Fran's Restaurant. Dating back to the 1940s, the restaurant is open 24 hours and serves classic dinners (including delicious breakfast plates).

The room was very bright and spacious with floor to ceiling windows and beautiful hardwood floors. I really love the design of the room, with lush royal blue curtains, plush rug, and unique artwork on the walls. Rooms also feature large desks, Keurig coffee makers, safes and flat-screen TVs (deluxe rooms or suites have kitchenettes). I found the bed to be nice and comfortable, with a comfortable quilt and high thread count sheets. The huge marble bathroom was recently renovated and is very beautiful with a walk-in shower and luxury toiletries.
