The Twisted Colossus train in the station is getting ready to depart
Twisted Colossus Six Flags Magic Mountain The RMC coaster is a revamp of their old Colossus wooden coaster, which features dueling trains running on a mind-bending Möbius strip track design.
The Möbius strip means passengers can experience both “sides” of the ride without getting out of the car. After completing one lap, they found themselves on the lift hill on the other side, ready to experience the second half, where the train magically switched to the second half of the track due to a seemingly impossible quirk in mathematical geometry.
Unlike most Mobius coasters, though, Colossus only has one stop. In order for the trains on both sides to race properly, the crew needs to dispatch the train from the station at the right time to meet the other train on the elevator hill. According to regulars, unfortunately this doesn't usually happen, which means the racing aspect is often lost.
The layout follows parts of the original Colossus but has been given the RMC treatment to add some seriously crazy elements, including double reversals, over-banked turns and airtime bumps. It’s generally considered one of the less aggressive RMCs, but the way it tosses riders around every hill and pops them out of their seats means it’s more than just a tamed beast.
Twisted Colossus is another great RMC conversion series. It's a shame that getting the Duel ride is more coveted than expected, as it's clearly designed for train racing, but it's still a fun, smooth broadcasting machine.
