We won't lie, we are totally with you When we saw the menu and prices of this new storebut we’re here to give you a try and let you know if the hefty price tag is worth it. Of course, this means we have to start with the first meal of the day, so let’s see if breakfast lives up to its name!

background

The Cake Bake Shop, run by famed baker Gwendolyn Rogers, hails from Indiana and is famous for its pastries, especially cake slices.

This new addition to Disney's BoardWalk Inn serves sweet and savory dishes in a whimsical atmosphere.

atmosphere

The Cake Bake Shop creates a beautiful ambiance with charming decorations that give a magical feel with warm lights, crystals and glitter. It definitely looks and feels like a fine dining experience.

So amazing!

There are five restaurant areas with ample tables and seating. No matter where you sit, you'll feel immersed in the whimsy and charm that fills the entire restaurant.

But we enjoyed the atmosphere though. Food is the key to a restaurant's success or failure. So let’s get started!

food and drink

We had the opportunity to try four different items from the extensive breakfast menu, starting with Cinnamon Toast Brioche Bites for $23.99. These are absolutely incredible and easy to shareas they came in about 7 bites and had icing sugar for dipping. They are honestly the best thing we have!

We also tried Classic Eggs Benedict for $19.99we were also shocked. It came with a buttery croissant, and we liked that the ham was sliced thicker than the deli version, but not too thick. The hollandaise sauce is super creamy and While salt and pepper are provided (you really have to ask for it though), we didn’t think anything extra was needed!

Classic Eggs Benedict

Broccoli Quiche Was our third main course, served with arugula salad, price $23.99. The quiche was very creamy, light, almost airy, and they added vodka to the quiche crust, which was amazing. While the arugula salad is great and tossed with a homemade citrus dressing, you have to really like arugula because that's all.

Next is White Bread Orange French Toast $18.99. We did taste orange here, but it wasn't overpowering. It's classic French toast with a little extra flavor, so while we did enjoy the dish overall, We won't be getting it again as we'd rather try a different quiche!

Then we tried any style eggs for $17. The plate was chock-full of breakfast staples (and real jams, including their homemade raspberry elf jam.) The eggs were cooked to perfection and we chose the bacon as our side, which was smoked and had a delicious crispy crust . The potatoes were the standout for us as they were nice and soft on the inside but crispy and almost caramelized on the outside. However, as much as we enjoyed it, we did think there was something more exciting on the menu, especially for the price.

Eggs any style

this Chocolate Belgian Waffles is next and it is available for $17.99. The waffles were very fluffy and airy, with just the right amount of chocolate chips. They also come with maple syrup and chocolate syrup for you to top with, as well as pink frosting and extra chocolate chips. These are truly the waffles of our dreams.

Of course, since it's fall, we have Pumpkin Spice Latte Only $7.99. It has a really cute cinnamon and glitter presentation, and a cinnamon sugar donut hole. However, it wasn't outstanding and we felt it tasted similar to other pumpkin spice lattes you can buy elsewhere. Next time we will choose something more unique.

How could breakfast be without some pastries? we chose Banana Orange Nut Bread for $8.99, This is a great choice because it's delicious! It was freshly baked and very moist and cake-like. The orange zest adds the most amazing kick to it and the frosting has us absolutely raving about it. We'll even order an extra cup to dip in next time. Of course, it's sprinkled with pixie glitter which makes it look absolutely magical.

And we can't leave without trying french sandwich lady for $28.99. Honestly, this is one of the best breakfast sandwiches we've had anywhere, let alone at Disney World. The sunny-side up eggs pop easily, allowing the delicious yolk to run down the sides of the country bread, and are paired with white sauce and Gruyère cheese to create the creamiest and most decadent topping.

The sandwich is stacked with slices of thinly sliced ham, creating an incredibly delicious treat. Our real winner!

Magic or tragedy?

Overall, would we recommend this restaurant to you? Well, it depends. It might be a good fit for you if:

  • You want a unique and whimsical dining experience — The ambience of the restaurant felt magical and the quality of the food was incredible.
  • You are looking for a stylish restaurant to take some beautiful photos.
  • Are you looking for a one-of-a-kind experience to celebrate something special? — We can’t think of anywhere else that exudes the same charming ambience and offers great cuisine.

However, If so we would not recommend this restaurant:

  • Are you looking for an affordable meal? — While we see justification for quality pricing, menu items can be expensive and prices are likely to increase.
  • Looking for vegan options – Cake Bake Shop is a European style bakery so they don't have many vegan alternatives at the moment.

While we did enjoy everything we tried here and felt it was worth it, it's certainly not an easy choice when you've already spent a lot of money on a trip to Disney World. Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for our lunch/dinner reviews at Cake Bake Shop to see if one meal is better than the other!
