After several meetings with future moderators and organizers, UIAA revised its schedule for its conference (GAS) from 2026 to 2028.
The 2026 UIAA Convention is scheduled for Colorado, USA, but UIAA and the American Alpine Club (AAC) have made a common decision to postpone the event. This is a response to current visa and entry restrictions, which may prevent several UIAA member associations from attending the event. AAC remains committed to hosting the UIAA Conference with the aim of holding the 2028 GA in the United States.
The decision to reschedule the activity has now been made, as hosting the GA requires a lot of time, resources and commitment, both of which host and UIAA require.
The 2026 GA will now be held in Nepal, hosted by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). This is the first time that the GA has visited the Himalayas since 2011. UIAA thanks NMA host. More details about location and procedures will be communicated as appropriate.
The 2027 UIAA GA will be held in Santiago, Chile as planned and organized by Federación de Andinismo de Chile (Feach).
Remind us, 2025 UIAA Conference It will be held in Peja, Kosovo from 23 to 25 October. The notice will be issued on July 24. You can view the draft plan here.
