
Solutions to help offline agents sell refund guarantees
Assisted travel products company Protect Group has a new solution that allows any offline travel advisor or agency to sell chargeback protection quickly and easily, with no technology integration required.
The web-based tool agent platform offers an easy way to add the company's flagship chargeback protection service to their itineraries, opening up a whole new stream of ancillary revenue.
Not only does it provide agents with the opportunity to earn a share of revenue based on sales, but it also creates a mechanism to provide its agents with a commission structure to incentivize their sales activities.
New sales channels bring huge revenue opportunities to industries such as cruise lines, where more than 80% of bookings are made through agents, while add-on services such as chargeback protection can only be sold through online booking processes or API-connected software solutions.
Stephen Joyce, global head of travel, tourism and OTAs at Protect Group, said: “Offline agents are vital to the travel ecosystem, but so far their ability to sell chargeback protection has been dependent on the software they use.
“We built a simple standalone platform that allows them to book with chargeback protection and easily copy pre-set wording into their itineraries. This means advisors can now meet the growing demand for flexibility while earning commission on every booking.”
The agency platform, housed within Protect Group's Pulse Reporting Dashboard environment, enables users to export data, including commissions, for internal reporting. The tool is currently being rolled out to selected institutions and consortiums, with wider availability available.
For online travel agencies, airlines and hotels, technology-driven solutions are seamlessly integrated into the booking process, allowing customers to upgrade their tickets for a full refund in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond their control.
