Kentucky Kingdom owner Herschend announced today that it will launch a new Vekoma family of roller coasters next year.

flying fox will be Vekoma's suspended family coaster, similar to sister park Dollywood's Dragonflier. The Flying Fox can fly at an altitude of 1,380 feet, with a maximum altitude of 65 feet and a top speed of 37 mph.

The ride height requirement for the 63-second ride is only 38 inches.

“The addition of Flying Fox is an important milestone in our multi-year growth strategy,” said Sarah Worrell, general manager of Kentucky Kingdom. “We worked closely with Vekoma to design a coaster that meets the highest safety and fun standards while bringing an original story to life that resonates with our region.”

The story here follows crop duster pilot Jeb Fox as he flies through a line of red barns and a backdrop of farmland. Herschend said the company will invest $14 million in the new attraction.
