Four more Carnival cruises will miss out on loyalty benefits

Four more Carnival cruises will miss out on loyalty benefits

Key aspects:

  • Four more Carnival Cruise Line sailings will eliminate benefits for Elite Loyalty Club members.
  • Too many platinum guests will be on board to make some of the perks practical, although diamond guests appear to be unaffected this time around.
  • Perks like priority boarding and deplaning and early cabin access are disappearing.

Carnival Cruise Line rewards the highest tiers of its current Very Important Funny People (VIFP) loyalty program with special perks during cruises.

These include benefits such as priority boarding and disembarkation, complimentary early cabin entry, welcome amenities, special badges and souvenirs.

But more and more often, Carnival had to cancel privileges This happened again on four other sailings due to higher numbers of Diamond and/or Platinum passengers.

In this case, it appears that second-tier Platinum guests should be held accountable, while top-tier Diamond guests appear to be able to retain their regular benefits.

When too many elite guests book a particular cruise, it becomes impossible to offer all the usual benefits.

The dilemma is a major catalyst for Carnival's launch of its controversial new Carnival Rewards program later this year, as the cruise line looks to better reward its most loyal passengers.

Which flights are affected?

Not surprisingly, the majority of affected cruise ships are Carnival Journeys sailings, which are nine days or longer. Historically, these longer vacations have attracted more elite VIFPs.

The first sailing affected is a 13-day sailing to the Southern Caribbean carnival conquest, Departing January 17, 2026 in Miami, Florida.

This cruise is also a SEA Cruise which means it is a Sailings exclusively for adults 21 and over.

It's a bit of a double whammy, as these special adults-only sailings also quickly gained a reputation for attracting elite VIPP guests as well as Carnival Players Club members.

Carnival Miracle Cruise ships bound for the Caribbean and Panama on January 17 were similarly affected. This cruise lasted 8 nights and was only one day away from the Carnival trip.

Next is Carnival spirit. Spirit-class flagship 14-night cruise to the Southern Caribbean Set sail in Mobile, AlabamaJanuary 17th is the voyage without benefits.

last but not least Carnival Dream Departing January 18 for a 14-night cruise from Galveston, Texas to the Eastern Caribbean.

Which benefits will disappear?

The letter made no mention of Diamond class passengers, suggesting the cruisers may retain all normal benefits, making the situation somewhat unusual.

The letter from Carnival reads as follows: “Due to the large number of Platinum passengers joining us on this flight, we will not be able to offer the following benefits.”

“These operational changes are consistent with our other sailings where we have a large number of Platinum passengers. We apologize for any disappointment and thank you for your understanding.” The notification continues.

So, what perks are guests actually missing out on on their upcoming cruises?

First, priority boarding and disembarkation – including at ports of call – will not be possible.

Secondly, early entry into the cabin to check in luggage is not allowed. Like other passengers, Platinum passengers must wait until around 1:30 pm on the day of boarding for a seat to become available. Checked baggage is also not eligible for priority baggage delivery.

Last but not least, customer service's normal priority line and priority phone assistance may also be unavailable or only available on a very limited basis.

But on the bright side, perks like free drinks, welcome gifts (on request) and free laundry service haven't gone away.
