In every corner of Disney parks and resorts, the magic of storytelling survives with colorful flowers, vibrant bedding and abundant blooms shot by millions of guests each year. The most memorable thing is the bright Mickey flowers in front of the iconic train station when entering Magic Kingdom Park.
While a skilled team of gardeners from Walt Disney World cares for every plant and flower, some of our plants’ actual roots sprout about 40 miles from a nursery owned by a third-generation family-owned business in Central Florida, the family Prosper your own rights. Over 50 years, Dutch Mill Nursery has produced millions of flowering plants such as viola, ajugas, geraniums, caladiums, egonias, egonias, pentas and sunflowers.
Starting from just one acre and seeder in 1961, John and Irene Lommerse opened a Dutch Mill Nursery in the area, maintaining the garden center, garden gardens and lawns in the area, and began to take several years later Disney offers locally grown plants and flowers as a company that prepares the company Magic Kingdom opened in October 1971.
As Walt Disney World expands, so does the Dutch Mill Nursery. Today, the Lomel family business continues to grow with 16 acres of land and 25 greenhouses in central Florida! Their family’s legacy now continues to run a business in Sanford, Florida, with their children and grandchildren.
“Our business has grown from retail to successful wholesale business over the past fifty years thanks to its partnership with Disney,” said Jinny, daughter and second-generation member of the Lommerse Family. “Every time we see our plants and color combinations at theme parks and resorts, we are always very excited and proud.”
