Choose Hotel Attack MEWS Software to Increase Non-room Income

Choose a hotel Whether to choose a cloud-based provider mews As a property management system (PMS) for its franchisees outside the U.S., this move could help hotel chains capture more non-room revenue and reduce errors when setting rates.

The partnership combines MEWS software with ChoiceEdge (Reserve System Selection) internal development.

Choice has 1,258 franchised properties outside the United StatesAccording to the annual report, there are approximately 142,000 rooms.

Major hotel chains are increasingly looking to generate revenue from services other than overnight stays. As Skift noted in its Megatrend, Marriott and Hilton have tested sales day passes to pools and fitness centers, while Accor has expanded co-working spaces in its property, as Skift noted in its Megatrend:'Hotels will start selling far more than rooms.'

“Auxiliary revenue is no longer an accompanying note for hoteliers. It’s a core part of the guest experience strategy,” he said. Margitte Verkruijsse-ReinerMews senior director of ownership management told Skift. “Mews Space not only unravels the full potential of a home, but not just a room. It allows the property to offer flexible booking options including meeting rooms, co-working spaces, parking, parking and day beds at the spa.”

Over the years, Choice has built its own software, including a cloud-based central reservation system (CRS) and a voice search-optimized reservation engine. But at the property level (especially in the international market), its systems often lack consistency.

“Today’s guests expect a seamless, intuitive experience, and the hotel team needs tools to empower them, not to stop them,” Verkruijsse-Reiner said. “Old technology is a huge obstacle to both.”

Hotel companies are slow to update their PMS systems, and many chains still use decades of technology and newer applications to manage payments in different currencies.

Local flexibility, global consistency

Integration with ChoiceEdge ensures booking, prices and inventory consistent across all systems and channels.

“All reservations flow seamlessly from CRS to MEWS, with no manual input and no data mismatch,” Verkruijsse-Reiner said. “Availability, rates and inventory are perfectly kept in sync, reducing the risk of overbooking and missing revenue.”

For Choice's international franchisees, such as Sweden-based Strawberry and Japan Hoshino, this helps them adapt to market demands faster, manage different revenue sources and support loyalty programs. Cloud-based systems also require less on-site hardware and can be updated centrally, reducing maintenance costs for franchisees.

The system allows properties to make local adjustments while maintaining brand consistency.

Since its inception in 2012, Amsterdam-based MEWS has raised a total of $410 million in venture capital.
