Cruises and food go together like chicken and waffles. As it happens, that's exactly what's being featured on a new menu being tested on Carnival cruise ships.
While some said the offerings reminded them of another venue on the high seas, most were ready to line up and get their fill. But will this venue be popular enough to go further… we mean across the fleet?
What’s on the new carnival menu
While news of the new venue had been circulating on message boards and Facebook groups for some time, it was finally John Heald who made the official announcement.

Just a few short weeks ago, Heard excitedly revealed that nearly every aspect of onboard dining is receiving attention. “We'll find out what you like and maybe what you'd like to see changed,” he said in one of his daily videos, “but this is going to be a very, very important year for food.”
This week, he highlighted one of the options being tested. Chicken & Waffles & Waves is currently being tested on several ships in the fleet, including Carnival Liberty.
When Heard posted about the new Carnival menu (pictured below) and asked his followers if there was “something you could order for lunch,” the response was overwhelmingly positive.
“I'll choose anything”
As you might expect, the comments section was packed with people who were probably struggling to type while suppressing unexpected cravings. “Be very afraid,” warned commenter Eric Smith.
“If I find brisket, I'll stand there like I'm at the blackjack table [saying] Hit me, hit me, hit me, double down! “
Others noted that the menu was very similar to another venue on some Carnival ships. “Reminds me a lot of 'Chicks',” some said, referring to the venue, which is led by Shaquille O'Neal, the series' chief financial officer. “
Others made mild teasing about the typos on the menu, including misspellings, asking if these were issues that hadn't been addressed before the menu was rolled out across the fleet.
