Wynn Al Marjan Island announces landmark partnership with Punchdrunk, the internationally renowned immersive theater company behind some of the most influential and genre-defining productions of the past two decades, including global phenomenons no more sleep. The partnership marks Punchdrunk’s first production in the MENA region and marks a bold new chapter in live entertainment in the Middle East.
The original stage production, which will debut when Wynn Almarian Island opens in 2027, will be created specifically for Wynn and co-conceived and directed by Felix Barrett MBE, artistic director and founder of Punchdrunk, and Craig S. Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts. The work represents an evolution of Barrett's creative practice, engaging audiences in previously unknown ways, blending performance style and the theatrical world and audience perspective to expand the scope of live entertainment.
Inspired by the spirit of traditional Las Vegas revue-style performances, the production will feature world-class singing and dancing while inviting audiences to choose how they experience the story. Upon booking, guests can choose from a traditional sit-down show upstairs, or an immersive tour downstairs and backstage, revealing the world hidden behind the curtain. Each perspective provides a unique and complete perspective on the same unfolding narrative.
The theater at Wynn Al Marion Island is considered a modern interpretation of a classic theater. Its architecture is influenced by Art Deco, with rich fabrics, sculptural curtains and grand spaces creating a place that is both nostalgic and refreshing. Evoking the Golden Age of Hollywood and the glamor of 1970s Las Vegas with a modern sensibility, the theater is designed to immerse guests from the moment they arrive. From the lobby and hallways to restrooms and elevators, every area is part of the experience.
Founded in 2000 by Felix Barrett MBE, Punchdrunk transformed contemporary theater with its iconic 'mask' works – immersive, free-roaming worlds where audiences can move independently within carefully designed environments. Capturing the attention of Seoul audiences, by the end of its run in Shanghai this August, the play will have completed its decade-long run in Seoul, becoming the longest-running international production in the city's history. Starting next year, no more sleep Shooting will begin in Shenzhen, opening a new chapter.
