9 Songs We Wanted to Make for “Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets”

Last week, Disney announced a new slate of shows for the reopening of Disney’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since the coaster's opening in 1999, Aerosmith has provided a new soundtrack for the attraction instead of providing the soundtrack.

Fronted by iconic Muppet music group Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem, five of the songs on this Rock 'n' Roller Coaster are all cover versions of existing songs, only one of which includes an original artist – Rock! rock! “Till You Drop” by Def Leppard. While we can't wait until late May to get our hands on these “Electric Mayhem” covers, the setlist release has us thinking about “what if” scenarios for the other songs. Can Already used in attractions.

Over the years there have been many Muppet covers of popular music and vice versa – pop musicians covering songs from the Muppet universe, as well as countless songs that appeared in The Muppet Movie!

Here’s a list of nine songs we’d love to have included on the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster tracklist!

Can you imagine – Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem

If we're going to go all out with a Muppet overlay of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster using Dr. Teeth and Electric Mayhem, why not start with their most iconic original song, 1979's “Can You Picture That”? muppet movie. Yeah, I just want the original 1979 version. The 2023 Disney+ series has a “refreshed” version of the song muppets mayhem, This obviously makes more sense from a “corporate synergy” perspective – but I feel like the energy of the original is better suited to that appeal.

The Muppet Show Theme Song – OK Go

Maybe it was an unconventional choice — but in 2011, Disney released green albumin which popular musicians cover songs originally made famous by The Muppets. The cover of the first song on the album is The Muppet Show Earworm, the theme song of alternative rock band OK Go here we go again reputation. (It’s a treadmill music video. Look it up.) It might not quite fit the beat of the track, but I think it’s quirky enough that it works.

Bohemian Rhapsody – The Muppets

another already exists Muppets Cover, this version of the Queen Bohemian Rhapsody Released in 2009. We realize that some parts of Bohemian Rhapsody don't necessarily fit in with the fast-paced nature of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster 0-57 mph, so we suggested placing a video screen in front of the launch tunnel that would begin at approximately 2:20 with Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, building anticipation with the Muppets' performance, and then launching in sync with Beaker's “meeee” at 2:50. Is 30 seconds too long to sit on a roller coaster track and build anticipation? perhaps!

Keep Moving – Alkaline Trio

Another entry comes from green albumthe Alkaline Trio's cover of “Movin' Right Together” actually lends itself well to an up-tempo rock roller coaster, and I probably prefer it to the original versions of “Kermit the Frog” and “Fozzie Bear.” muppet movie. It also lends itself to this distinction as an answer to a highly specific trivia question: “Are the only Muppets-related songs the audio of rides on two roller coasters in Central Florida?” (We ranked it #7 of 113The final ranking of every song on Hollywood Rip Ride and Rockit.“)

Jungle Boogie – Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem feat. Sam Eagle

How do you ultimately make up for Sam Eagle not performing his “glorious three-hour finale”? Muppet Vision: 3D? Make him a co-star on the new Rock 'n' Roller Coaster soundtrack. Performing Kool & The Gang's 1973 hit Jungle Boogie In “Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem,” Sam comes to embrace the absurdity of the song, which fits in well with elements of the attraction. Imagine the gong sounds on the eve of launch—what about the shouts of Dr. Teeth? Two iconic moments to get this coaster started the right way!

Dancing in the Moonlight – Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem

Originally recorded for “Muppets Haunted Mansion”, cover by Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem dance in the moonlight The King Harvest designed rock coaster architecture actually works well too – especially since most of the ride takes place in the dark!

My Party – Amy Adams and Miss Piggy

There is a distinct disco atmosphere inside my partyperformed by Amy Adams and Miss Piggy in the 2011 film, The Muppets. While many of the songs on this list lean more toward rock (something echoed by all the songs on previous versions of the coaster), adding disco creates a new energy within the G-Force Records building, even if “Me Party” is experienced by 24 passengers simultaneously.

Mr. Blue Sky – Dr. Teeth and Electric Chaos

From a purely “roller coaster soundtrack” perspective – Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem covers the Electric Light Orchestra repertoire Mr. Blue Sky It felt like it would work best with the layout of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Additionally, the music video highlights Zoot, the Electric Mayhem saxophonist who may be underrated due to his relationships with the other Electric Mayhem members. A blue sky themed launch tunnel repaint and relighting could really set the tone for this attraction if Mr. Blue Sky on the soundtrack.

Mahna Mahna – Bip Bippadotta & The Snows

Is this a serious contender for an actual song we want to hear? Probably not. But we had to put it on the list anyway. enjoy!

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets will have its grand opening at Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 26, so stay tuned to the official Disney Parks channel for more information!
