On Wednesday, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky made a counterintuitive point about how artificial intelligence could reshape its workforce: While AI may cause other travel companies to lose their jobs, it hasn't significantly changed Airbnb's overall headcount.

Asked whether artificial intelligence has changed his hiring plans, Chesky countered in an interview with CNBC.

“Not as much as I thought,” he said.

“For one thing, you don't need that many people with artificial intelligence to do a job,” Chesky said. “AI, on the other hand, accelerates the growth of your business—so they generate net benefits.”
