United will fly to four new European destinations from Newark next year, with seasonal flights to Split, Croatia; Glasgow, Scotland; Bari, Italy; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Flights to Split will begin on April 30 and will operate three times per week. Split will become United's second Croatian destination after Dubrovnik. From May 1, flights to Bari will operate four times a week. Both routes use Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
United will operate daily flights from Newark to Glasgow starting on May 8, and offer seasonal flights to Santiago de Compostela three times a week on May 27. United will use Boeing 737 Max 8 narrow-body aircraft on these routes.
United will be the only airline to operate all four routes and the only airline to fly direct between the United States and Split and Santiago de Compostela. According to Cirium, Italian airline Neo has weekly summer flights from New York JFK to Bari.

United announced Thursday two additional international routes for next year: Newark-Seoul and Washington Dulles-Iceland.
Daily Newark-Seoul flights will launch on September 4, competing with South Korea's Air Premia. Newark will be United's second gateway to Seoul after San Francisco. United Airlines will use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to fly the route.
United will fly daily to Reykjavik from Washington Dulles International Airport starting on May 21, joining existing Iceland routes from Chicago O'Hare and Newark airports.
United will compete with Icelandair on the Washington-Reykjavik route, using Boeing 757-200s to fly the route.
