Peru It is one of the most popular destinations in South America as it is the home of the world's favorites and wonders Machu Picchu. About half a million people visit the ancient Inca castles every year – this number would have been much higher if not for the order to prevent overcrowding.
But Peru is not just Machu Picchu. There are more to the Andes than the Inca Trail.
Peru is very geographically and culturally diverse (it is the third largest country on the continent), so it offers much more here than most travelers expect. From the great dining destinations in Lima to the floating island of Uros, to the Amazon of Peru, to the pyramids and graves of Batan Grande, to the desert oasis of Vacachona, there is a lot to see in this South American country that limiting yourself to the sacred valley would be a missed opportunity.
For brave travelers with enough time, many of these destinations can be explored alone. However, surrounding Peru can be challenging, with limited time on budget travelers and should consider choosing an organized trip. Peru has many well-known and affordable travel companies that can make your journey smoother, allowing you to focus your attention and energy on the site, people, culture and history of the location.
To help you save money and make the most of your time, I have listed the best travel companies in Peru. From hiking to multi-day tours to adventure-filled guided tours, these may not be as cheap as traveling alone, but they absorb the headaches that often come with when traveling abroad (especially a person as slow as Peru).
Here are the best travel companies in Peru:
1. A brave journey
Intrepid runs in every corner of the planet and they are always a reliable choice due to their focus on sustainable and responsible travel. I've been on several trips over the years and they're never disappointed. Although Intrepid offers tours of Machu Picchu and Inca Trails, they also emphasize other parts of this beautiful country.
For example, their Classic Peru Tour ($2,057) spans nine days and spreads throughout the country, with many of the main highlights including Machu Picchu, Cusco and Lake Tetikaka.

Intrepid is one of the best companies I have for my multi-day trip. Whenever I book a trip for multiple days, I go with them. You should. I can't recommend them!
2. Alpaca adventure

The Cusco-based company is owned and operated by local Peruvians. The Alpaca Expedition calls itself a “green machine” and is committed to becoming a fully sustainable travel company. Machu Picchu has a busy hike and Inca Trail (because alpaca horns are highly rated for them), but they also offer “alternative tours” for some of the disadvantaged places on the hike. For example, you can spend five days there, such as hiking around Humantay Blue Lagoon, or, if you don't want to commit, they even offer a one-day hike.
There are also hiking to the seven lakes of Orcent, as well as other attractions around the Holy Valley. Their classic four-day Inca hiking hike is $795 per person, while their five-day Chequequirao Trek is $700.
3.Chequequirao Trek

The lost Inca city of Choquequirao can be reached through Cusco's two-day trek. The local tour company specializes in hiking to the ruins of the 15th-century city, which is an excellent alternative to trafficking the Machu Picchu website (less than 10,000 people visiting each year, while 2,500 people visiting Machu Picchu every day).
You can do a classic four-day trek to Choquequirao for $520, or mix things up and take an eight-day hike from Choquequirao to Machu Picchu for $1,250, or you can combine it with a jaunt on the acre trail. There are many affordable options!
4. ColcaTours

Located in Arequipa City, Colca Tours specializes in hiking and bus trips to Colca Canyon, a deep and dramatic ravine scattered with ancient villages. It is one of the deepest canyons in the world, home to the Andean Condor and has incredible (and challenging) hiking and views. In addition to hiking trips, they also do bicycle and horse tours. Most tours last one to four days, and some include more adventure elements such as rafting and rock climbing. Their standard four-day hike is only $150.
5. AmazonasExplorer

Amazonas Explorer is a private travel company operating on Sacred Valley and Amazon. They arrange private group tours that will not only take you to Machu Picchu but also many people around the area. They also engage in non-travel activities such as eBikes and whitewater rafting. Their guide is really good, speaks fluent English, and is knowledgeable, and you feel like you are learning from the professor. (They appear in the book Machu Picchu turns right. ) They are a great option if you want to do something on your own, from a road off the beaten track, or a group of people who want to travel tailored to your needs.
Peru In a place that is so geographically and culturally diverse, everything on a trip takes a lot of time, effort and money, especially if you plan to hike. If your time is short, consider traveling for some or all. After all, money is rewarded; time has no.
