The Ultimate Guide to Egg Coffee Hanoi – Travel Bites

Originally appeared in the on-flight magazine of Anna Airlines

I consider myself an Epicurian, a food explorer and a connoisseur of quality coffee. As a common jet you would think caffeine is just to combat fatigue from jumping time zones often, but it's also nice to just enjoy a beautiful experience of drinking coffee in a new city and absorbing all the websites, sounds and smells that come with it. So while Asia may be known for its tea, I was excited to explore their coffee scene, especially the city’s famous egg coffee Hanoi and was surprised to find excellent beers on land and in the sky.

Coffee in the sky

Ana recruits the expertise of master chefs and beverage expert The Connoisseurs to create a beautiful dining experience at 30,000 feet, even curating a perfect cup of coffee in the pilot. The Business Class menu has a full page dedicated to sharing the story of ANA coffee, from single-source BSCA certified beans cultivated on Monte Alegre, Brazil, to how to roast coffee. To get this, they use a roasting method to take into account the air pressure of the aircraft (to be exact .7 to .8 atmosphere pressure) to produce a pleasant balanced flavor that tastes completely different on land, so it is a unique coffee experience that can only be tasted in flight.

Tasting the luxury of the vastness of the sky and the richness of the earth can only be experienced on the plane and connecting customers with their battle journey.transparent

Coffee on Land: Discovering Hanoi’s coffee culture

There is no better city exploration than coffee lovers in Hanoi, Vietnam. When walking through the old district, it seems that every third storefront is a cafe. From the most casual street corners, you can pull up your stools and order traditional phin (Vietnam Drip Coffee Press) and a cup of sunflower seed snacks to an elegant European-style cafe with Italian-style espresso machine, and even the most stylish hipster party room with Instagrable drinks and decor.

As for coffee, Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee producer, most of which are Rubusta beans, which are known for their higher caffeine-rich and strong, sometimes bitter taste. This is why most coffee drinks in Vietnam are balanced with sweetness. There are three essential Vietnamese coffee experiences when visiting Hanoi!

Egg coffee Hanoi (CàPhêtrứng): The city's most famous beer

Hanoi is known for its egg coffee, a strong espresso with fresh eggs and condensed milk fillings, similar to a sweet ball of egg ust that pairs perfectly with the bitterness of espresso.

You will find egg coffee available everywhere, but in the cafe, the best place is the cafe, and it all starts – a coffee shop near Long Bien Bridge, north of the old area. The founder's son also opened a second location in Hoan Kiem District

We took a guide to the original cafe and taught us the right way to drink egg coffee. She said most people make a mistake by stirring them together with a spoon and turning them into sweet lattes, and suggesting we stir a little to help cut the coffee into cream without mixing so you can taste both flavors.

Yogurt coffee (Càphêsữachaua): a rich twist

Another unique coffee experience you find in Hanoi is Yogurt Coffee. It is not typical coffee milk or creamer, but made with yogurt. Some versions are similar to smoothies, but our favorites are the yogurt coffee at CAN CA PHE and the sweet purple rice. It combines lenses of espresso, plain yogurt and sweet rice to blend rich and sweet flavors. Con Ca Phe has several locations throughout Hanoi, but I suggest visiting the original book on Nha Tho (Church) street opposite St. Joseph’s Cathedral.

Ice coffee (càphêsữa): Pick me up in the perfect afternoon

On a warm afternoon, nothing is more like iced coffee, and Vietnamese iced coffee will also bring you the perfect midday energy. For a relaxing break, I recommend sitting on the second story balcony of Cafe Runam Cafe Runam and ordering iced coffee. You can order several different ways, such as pure iced coffee, which will come with a Vietnamese drip filter and a cup of high ice, pour it into the sweet cold milk on the sides so you can mix it into your favorite sweetness. Alternatively, you can order iced coconut milk coffee for more tropical stuff.

The cafe has an amazing modern green awning that draws you from the street, while inside you will find the classic short cafe stools that are typical of Vietnamese. What attracts coffee is their extensive menu, far beyond traditional menus Egg coffee Hanoi The product is certainly a classic version.

Their signature drinks are creative in the months of roasted beans: Coffee December, August Milk Coffee and November’s effogato provide a unique flavour profile that reflects the seasonal characteristics of their choice of bean selection. For those looking for something more adventurous, try their Black Sea Salted Cream Coffee, which balances the tropical flavor between a strong Vietnamese coffee with a hint of sea salt or coconut coffee. Their November latte is particularly noteworthy, with a flavour and treatment clearly in each drink.
