Our Tuscany Food and Wine Tour Bringing guests outside of the usual tasting and into the heart of Tuscany’s winemaking heritage, tradition, innovation and history together produce some of Italy’s most famous wines. These are not ordinary vineyard visits; they are private, in-depth experiences reserved specifically for Terra & Tu guests, providing insights and tastings that are not accessible to the public.
Montepulciano: Vino and Vino Nobile Cathedral
In the medieval Montepulciano, our journey began with the iconic De'ricci wine cellar, known as the “Vino Cathedral”. This spectacular old cellar has earned its nickname for its grand architecture and centuries of history, with stone arches and vaulted ceilings extending above. When you fall into the depths, you feel as if you have returned to the age, to an age considered alchemy mastery of art.
Under the guidance of one of the owners of the De'ricci estate, guests learned about the estate's legacy, which has produced the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano for generations. One of Tuscan original Docg wines, this wine is made from Sangiovese grapes grown on the limestone-rich hills of Montepulciano, where the soil and climate give the wine its unique character. During a private tasting in the vineyards near De'ricci, guests taste this ruby red wine, known for its full body, rich aroma and balanced tannins. Tasting paired with local cheeses and marinated meat deepens guests’ appreciation of how terroir, tradition and expert craftsmanship are combined in each bottle. For wine lovers, this experience in Montepulciano is an unforgettable introduction to the iconic variety of Tuscany.
Montalcino: Brunello's respected home
We went deep into the wine country of Tuscany and we arrived at the town of Montalcino, synonymous with some of the best red wines in Italy. Here guests have exclusive access to Argiano Estate, one of the most historic and famous breweries in Tuscany, founded in 1580. The vineyards have been planted for over 400 years, and the estate’s soil and microclimate are perfect for producing the legendary Brunello di Montalcino, a wine considered among the most popular wines.
Upon arrival, all of Argiano's current guests greeted their guests, who took a private tour of the estate's lush vineyards, historic cellars and production areas. In this immersive experience, guests can gain insight into the production process of Brunello, from careful selection of Sangiovese Grosso grapes to aging in oak barrels, giving Brunello a deep, complex flavor. All shared the stories of the aristocratic family who owned the estate and added a rich layer of history to this trip, connecting Tuscan winemaking experience with the present.
This visit ends with the private taste of Argiano's famous Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino wines, paired with specially prepared Tuscan meals. Each drink experiences the rich, elegant notes of Brunello, which over time it develops beautifully, reflecting its carefully controlled aging process. These wines paired with dishes that highlight local ingredients, creating a pairing experience that brings the flavor and complexity of each antique. This intimate experience gives guests the opportunity to learn about the art and dedication behind each bottle of Brunello, a wine that truly embodies the soul of the Montalcino.
Together, these vineyard experiences offer more than just tasting. They provide guests with a deep understanding of Tuscan winemaking traditions and their passion for producing world-class wines.
