Our first stop in any new city is usually the local history museum. It’s a great way to get our heads, understand what’s important to the locals and discover events that shape the places we’re going to explore.

In Pittsburgh, the huge 6 floors Heinz Historical Center Fill in this role. This is the largest history museum in Pennsylvania, and the admission ticket has two days of benefits to give visitors a chance to see it all.

If you stay before October 5, 2025, please start visiting the museum's latest exhibitions. Pittsburgh's Hidden Historywhich is rarely filled, and objects that have never been seen tell the story of the city’s past.

In a preview of the exhibition, museum staff are able to showcase some of their favorite items, including rare sports souvenirs, including an Alcoa aluminum mini dress by legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta and the five-sledge in the five-sledge used in the infamous shootouts with Pittsburgh police and Bidfore.
