Civet Coffee – also called Kopi Luwak Or “weasel coffee” is a bean made from the digestive system of the original nocturnal animals in Asia. Although it was initially a quirky discovery of beans collected from forest grounds, demand quickly turned it into an industrial nightmare.

Today, most Civet coffee comes from Civets stored in narrow, dirty cages. Many people are illegally trafficked from the wild. These animals are force-fed coffee cherries until they suffer from caffeine toxicity, malnutrition and stress. Everyone can say they tried “the rarest coffee on earth.”

Let's talk about Instagram. Those cute Civet selfies? They are not adorable. They are evidence of a silent animal.

Captive ethnic groups are often used as tourist photo props for Southeast Asia, especially in Bali and Vietnam. Visitors take photos, share and prosper – Another follower wants the same experience. But these selfies bring cruel supply chains to capture, shroud and commercialize cruel supply chains for our entertainment.

If your travel photos involve wildlife in the cage, you are not promoting travel Lust, but promoting wildlife abuse.

How cruel travel

Travelers unconsciously support CIVET exploitation every day:

Sadly, visitors support Civet coffee production without knowing what is going on. TripAdvisor has no help with the inclusion of visitors that encourages visitors to visit Civet Farms. That's why Jess Hooper, founder of the CIVET project, launched a petition to encourage TripAdvisor to issue animal welfare warnings to all Civet coffee attractions.

What are Civets?

Why Civilization Starts With Civets: The Ugly Truth Behind the World's Most Expensive Coffee

Civets are cute, shy and lonely. We have the privilege of seeing them in places like Southeast Asia and Africa where they see them in night safaris. They have beautiful, spotted fur and big ears that they will be curious when the lights are sparkling.

Civets leads life to play an important role in its ecosystem. Their diet is omnivorous and consists of fruits, berries, insects and small vertebrates, which is essential for seed dispersion and control of insect populations.

Unfortunately, the demand for Civet coffee has greatly damaged the natural behavior and habitat of Civets. Wild Civic is captured by cruel methods such as effort and trapping. They were then shrouded and displayed for tourists to take photos. Now it's time to end this.

Civet, also known as Kopi Luwakis made of coffee beans eaten, digested and excreted by the naked eye of chicken, that is, kittens found in Asia, cat-like mammals. Beans are collected from feces, cleaned and roasted. It is often regarded as a rare delicacy, but the truth behind it is much deeper.

Is Civet ethical?

No. Although some companies claim their coffee comes from “wild” civilians, most are cage-fed coffee cherries that live in cruel, narrow conditions. Even the so-called moral farms often fail basic welfare standards. If it is sold to tourists, it is immoral.

Why is Civet Coffee bad?

Because it profits from animal pain. Civets in captivity often suffer from stress-related illnesses, suffer from malnutrition and die prematurely. The industry also presents dangers for wildlife trafficking and threatens already vulnerable CIVET populations.

Is there anything cruel Civet coffee or something?

Technically, yes, but rare, almost impossible to verify. Most of the so-called “wild” Kopi Luwak are green. Unless you personally know that farmers and Civets are roaming free in the wild (not “free range” in fenced backyards), it's best to clear it.

How can I tell if the Civet coffee experience is immoral?

Simple test: If they let you see, touch or take a photo with Civet –This is immoral. Responsible wildlife tourism does not involve selfies at night pressure in the sun.

What if I see Civet coffee for sale while on a trip?

Say no, and then say it out loud. Leave a respectful comment, ask the business why it wants to serve, and report if the list is on TripAdvisor, Airbnb experience, or Google Maps. Your voice makes a difference.
