On February 8, 2025, Portmiami set a record by docking 10 cruise ships. Including boat Carnival magic, carnival sunrise, Netherlands USA Zaandam, MSC Seascape, Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Gem, Oceania Sirena, Ocean Idol, Ocean Independence, and Virgin Navigation Scarlet Lady. About 68,000 passengers are expected to be on the ships.
“It's not surprising that Portmiamimi continues to break records,” said Miami Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Portmiami is the departure option for all major cruise ships . As a destination, Miami Dard is undoubtedly the world cruise tourism center, with the weather, culture and unlimited choices all exciting.”
There are several new ships in the 2025 cruise season, including Cunard's Queen Anne (January), MSC World United States (April), Norwegian water (April), Royal Caribbean Miracle of the ocean (August), Kunard Queen Elizabeth (October), Virgin Navigation Smart lady (October) Tour with Oceania allura (November).
Additionally, with the launch of Portmiamiami's Shore Power, a major milestone was achieved on June 17, 2024. This technology allows cruise ships to turn off the engine and connect to a power supply when docking, reducing emissions and noise. Portmiami is the first major cruise port in the eastern coastal areas of the United States, thanks to the Miami-Dade County, Carnival Company, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Company, Norwegian Cruise Company, Royal Caribbean Group, Virgin Voyages and Virgin Voyages and Virgin Voyages and Virgin Currise Cruises form a partnership, the Florida Electric Power & Light Company.
