This Sunday was only three weeks until Saga Cruises returned to the ocean with the spirit of discovery, and the ship was an event ready to restart.
Discovery Spirit was originally launched on July 10, 2019, so it was only recently when Covid 19 locked in the country. Her first voyage as a restricted lift will leave Tilbury on Sunday, June 27 on a Saturday night cruise on Scottish Highlands and Islands. It will then complete two six-night itineraries from the northern island to the fjord on July 3 and 25, respectively, and will conduct a 14-night British Isles adventure cruise from July 11 from July 11.

Saga Cruises CEO Nigel Blanks said: “We are very much looking forward to our departure around the British Isles on June 27 to welcome guests to enjoy the spirit of discovery. We Knowing how passionate they are about boarding the boat, our crew is happy to provide them with an incredible cruising experience. We all waited so long to cruise again and we wanted to make everyone as special as possible.”
When she was full, she found that the spirit would accommodate 999 guests in 554 cabins, although the numbers were further restricted to these initial cruises to observe the common agreement.
At this stage, 540 crew members will join the ship in the next few days. Many are returning crew members, so the average guest will recognize friendly faces.
Once boarded, the crew will refamiliarize with the ship and its role and receive extensive Covid-Protocol training before any guests. The ship will also conduct many offshore trials, which allow staff to practice and refine key elements such as breakfast, lunch and dinner services, dramatic performances, daily cleaning routines, and restocking at the port.
And, they need to do a good job, as it took nearly five days to get the ships to all the supplies needed for the first cruise around the British Isles. During normal ports of call, the ship restocking takes about 10 hours as food, drinks and supplies are brought into the ship.

Maintenance staff have also spent some time in making further improvements over the past year, including installing hand washing stations at the entrances of all restaurants.
Discover the spirit and its brand new sister ship, Spirit of Adventure, and comfort the guests.

The living room offers coffee, snacks and comprehensive bar service, while the South Cape Bar is the main bar for the boat. Outdoor amenities include observation deck, full wraparound promenade and terrace, swimming pool, sports court and deck game.
