Tradition and nostalgia are what make Disney theme parks so popular with so many fans, especially during the Christmas season, which has become Disney's most popular time of the year.
But when does a beloved holiday tradition become stale and in need of an update?
Disneyland has been hosting the “Christmas Fantasy Parade” since 1995, and the current version has been held since 2013. At Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, the Magic Kingdom first hosted Mickey's “Christmas Parade” in 2007. In Japan, Tokyo Disneyland Starting in 2015, Disney will host “A Christmas Story” parade.
Tokyo Disney Resort announced today that despite being a relatively new addition to the Disney Christmas Parade, this year will be the final year for Disney’s Christmas Story. The parade will return on November 15th with “Disney’s Christmas Story ‘A Fond Farewell’” and will be its final season, ending on December 25th.
Disney’s Christmas Story “A Farewell” will be held every day during the Christmas event at Tokyo Disney Resort. The parade includes seven units, including Disney’s “Frozen,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Lilo and Stitch,” “Snow White,” “Toy Story,” “Donald Duck and Family,” and Mickey Mouse and Friends.
In addition to its final Christmas parade, Tokyo Disneyland announced today that it will bring back the Country Bear Theater Christmas show during the holidays for the first time in five years.
