Setting the scene
With mountain views and close proximity to Malibu Beach, this hotel offers the perfect blend of tranquility and natural beauty, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city while still being within easy reach of all Southern California has to offer.
The Four Seasons brand is synonymous with luxury, comfort and first-class service, and my experience at Westlake Village definitely lived up to that expectation. Our vacation package included a spacious Deluxe King Room with a stunning Falls view, making for a truly relaxing stay.
The hotel itself is well-appointed, with three swimming pools, a 41,000-square-foot Asian-inspired spa (the largest in the Four Seasons group), and a garden filled with fresh vegetables and herbs.




Onsite dining options are plentiful and varied, catering to all tastes – whether you're a sushi lover or someone who's conscious about healthy eating.
A retreat guest who lives nearby mentioned that she often comes here just to grab a bite at the Stir Coffee Bar. After trying their gluten-free blueberry muffins, I totally understand why.

What's included
The core of my stay was Center for Health and Well-beingRenowned for its holistic approach to wellness, every aspect of the retreat, from personalized nutrition consultations to fitness workshops, is carefully designed to rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit.
The healthy kitchen provides meals full of fresh vegetables and fruits – we even helped cook a feast on the first night of the retreat. At first, I was skeptical about cooking on retreat, but I do feel that this hands-on experience gave us skills to maintain healthy eating habits long after returning home.


The 4-day itinerary is tailored to each person's specific goals. I chose the “Peak Performance” focus, other options were “Sustainable Weight Management” and “Spa & Beauty”.




Here is an overview of some of the main electives (all of which are included in my course package):
- Nutritional Consultation: The Center for Health and Well-Being works with registered dietitians who have expertise and are passionate about healthy eating. In addition to the group session on the first day of the retreat, I received a customized nutrition plan that addressed my specific medical issues and lifestyle needs. I brought a copy of my recent blood work report for the dietitian to review and ensure that her guidance took these factors into account.
- Fitness Consultation & Body Composition Assessment: I had a personalized consultation with an exercise physiologist. Together we set fitness goals and designed a tailored plan that included aerobic exercise, strength, and flexibility training.
- Fascial stretching therapy: Designed to improve circulation, relieve muscle fatigue and correct postural imbalances, this treatment is a great adjunct to resuming physical activity. This was one of my favorite sessions. I was able to resolve back and neck issues that had been bothering me for months.
- Cardiorespiratory fitness assessment (VO2 Max): Known as the gold standard for cardiorespiratory fitness assessment, the VO2 Max test measures the amount of oxygen your body consumes during exercise. By analyzing this data, along with your heart rate, it can accurately calculate your calorie burn at different training intensities. I also received personalized guidance on my target heart rate and how long to maintain that heart rate during my workouts to ensure optimal heart health.
- Guided walking tours: We took two hikes led by experienced guides who took us to stunning trails in the Santa Monica Mountains where we also enjoyed panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.


- Hydrotherapy: Our retreat included a one-hour massage and we had full use of the spa facilities throughout our stay.
What really made this retreat special was the personalized attention. Whether it was a one-on-one training session with a fitness expert or a customized yoga class, every experience was tailored to meet my specific needs. The staff's expertise and dedication to wellness was evident in every interaction, ensuring I felt supported throughout my journey.
I am grateful for the opportunity to prioritize my health and well-being in such a luxurious setting. This retreat not only rejuvenated my body, but it also refreshed my spirit, allowing me to continue my wellness journey when I return home.
