We reimagine our climate action plan to turn ambition into real action

1. Improving our approach to climate action

The fearless are never afraid to point out the elephant in the room. Just as we take industry-leading Opposition to elephant riding Back in 2014. While we have long responded to the climate crisis through carbon offsetting and engaging in climate change action science-based goals initiativeit’s time to look into the eyes of another elephant (let’s call him “Jumbo”).

We know; you know. The uncomfortable truth is that we create demand for air travel, with our travelers booking trips to and from us. We are never required to report the impact of these flights, but we believe they should be considered when we measure the footprint of our adventures.

So, by 2025, we reset Our climate action plan. We have abandoned carbon offsetting and science-based target initiatives. Instead, we have adopted new lifecycle emissions reduction targets, which include return flights for Intrepid Travellers, and will invest in a new $2 million climate impact fund. This will allow us to focus on investing in projects that actively reduce supply chain emissions – turning ambition into real action. You'll see this on our tours, too – whether you're zipping around Nepal in an electric minivan or spending the night in the solar-powered Daintree Ecolodge as it transitions to 100% renewable energy.

2. Give more than ever

Intrepid travelers are changemakers. Over 9,700 people have chosen to donate to destinations they visited in 2025 Fearless Foundation. The Foundation had a record year, exceeding its $3 million fundraising target by $600,000, welcoming six new partners and awarding $3.4 million to 58 worthy causes in 45 countries.

from strengthening life-saving Healthcare in rural Colombia and Empowering Thai children to take action on climate change To protect the local area new zealand birds And more – we are working together to make real progress in protecting nature, tackling inequalities and empowering communities around the world.

3. Reach out to more fearless people

Once you experience one of Intrepid's small group adventures, you'll feel like you've found the key to a trip that's stress-free, soul-nourishing, and full of cross-cultural connections. For decades, we've been leading informed people around the world on a mission to create positive change through the joy of travel.

But if we really want to further this mission, we need to reach more fearless people—people who haven’t discovered our adventurous style yet. To help us do that, we've painted the town of Dauntless red (again) with our latest addition. The only fearless battlelighting up billboards in London, Melbourne, Auckland and more, and hitting screens around the world with our first global TV advert – all in an effort to get more like-minded people to try our small-group tours.

4. Strengthen ties with local communities

Our travels are not just about the places you go, but also the people you meet. Intrepid travelers want authentic interactions with the communities and cultures they are experiencing – and we're constantly looking for new ways to achieve this in a way that works for everyone.

In 2025, we’re introducing 50 new community-led experiences on our travels, many led by women and Indigenous people – think about Homestay in Felin Villages in South Africa, or hear stories about the land from Wiwa elders on the road Hike to Colombia's Lost City.

Sometimes, the place we choose no Operations are just as important as where we operate. In parts of northern Tanzania, indigenous Maasai communities have been forced from their ancestral lands in the name of tourism and conservation, raising serious human rights and cultural heritage concerns. We consulted with community-led organizations to better understand the potential impacts of tourism and, with their guidance, chose not to conduct tours in affected areas. Instead, we empower intrepid travelers to respectfully engage with Maasai culture through locally owned and community-run experiences, in areas where participation brings direct benefit to the community.

5. Expand your natural experience

Sometimes, you just need to touch the grass. In 2025, we're connecting travelers to nature in new ways, launching nearly 100 new wildlife and nature experiences. think Hike to the glacier in Greenland, in benin canoe and Growing grass for Borneo’s pygmy elephants – something that is a breath of fresh air and a change of perspective.

We took a stand when the National Park Service faced more than $1 billion in funding cuts, putting 75% of America's protected lands and more than 1,500 jobs at risk. we launched Activism – A limited-edition series of trips to U.S. national parks hosted by top U.S. environmentalists including Leah Thomas Patti Goniafocused on equipping travelers with the expertise they need to take action on climate justice, citizen engagement, and practical ways to protect public lands. It was so popular that we will host it again in 2026.
