Before crossing the bridge to Djurgården (directly translated as “animal park”), you can visit Kmik On Strandvägen. The island was established as a royal hunting ground by King John III in 1579, and in addition to deer, elk and reindeer, the more exotic lions and bears also once inhabited the game park, although it is said that they were unable to survive the harsh Scandinavian winters.
